Is Facebook Home a Facebook Phone?
The last few years have seen Facebook rise above the ranks as it began to impress upon people its dominance on the Internet. This social media site that lets you “connect with friends and the world around you,” as seen in its home page, has geared up its modifications to provide utmost convenience for networking. It is no wonder that the rumor mill has been abuzz with guesses about the launch of a Facebook phone.
However, it has been debunked just a few days ago when Mark Zuckerberg announced in a recent event thatheirts new product is instead an operating system for smartphones, the Facebook Home. It is now considered a legitimate competitor with other existing OS that are best known to be heavily dependent on applications. Reportedly, Zuckerberg meant it as a replacement for the Android home screen that users are used to seeing.
Bar of social networking
The twist to this is the “people-centric” ergonomics that the team has developed to raise the bar of social networking. Instead of seeing the usual icons representing apps on the home screen, the smartphone user will be able to directly access status updates from the news feed, with sections divided into different panels.
Of course, this product has its fair share of let letdownseing that it serves as a rough draft for plans. As cited, some sources cite that Windows 8 has done a much better job in its attempt to revolutionize operating systems into mobile form. Still, the game plan is changing, and consumers can only wait for the next bomb to be released.
Although still in its infancy, skeptics are waiting to see how the CEO will come up with updates to make the OS fully functional and all-encompassing. For now, early adopters of this new product are urged to try it out for themselves and see how it fits with their preferences. Again, there are always surprises around the bend when you’re talking about a company that treats reinvention as a top priority.
